Will Lowrey

President & Founder

Bigger Than Ball was formed in January 2017 to give a vehicle for the message that so many great coaches across the nation are capturing and modeling. "Coaches hear every day that they must win, but we want to make sure that coaches remember their WHY...It is so easy to fall to the pressure of the extreme competitive nature of sports and get lost in the process, " says Lowrey, "and we also want to highlight those coaches that understand the larger impact of their platform and the opportunities for the coaching industry in hopes that they will impact their fans and the next generation of coaches."

Lowrey's wife Jennifer, was a recipient of a double-lung transplant in January of 2011. She is in line to have a second transplant. "Walking through these adversities with Jennifer, I got deep in prayer and understand exactly how God teaches us that we aren't living for this world," Lowrey speaks on what impacted him to begin this foundation. Lowrey is committed to using this foundation to organize a network focused on winning the right way.

Will lives in Tupelo, Mississippi with Jennifer and their daughter Jilanna. He is now working with Blue Mountain College as the school's Athletic Director. He was the Head Baseball Coach and Development Director at Tupelo Christian Prep from 2011 to 2018. His teams made trips to 5 North Half Championships and won the State Title in 2016. . Lowrey graduated from Delta State University with a Business Administration degree where he was also a member of the Baseball program from 1995-1998 under the guidance of the late Bill Marchant and current Head Coach Mike Kinnison. Chris Shelton

Alabama Director

A native of Pleasant Grove, AL, Shelton grew up playing any and all sports available and quickly fell in love with the game of baseball. Developing a passion for sports, specifically baseball, Shelton knew he would find a career in sports. After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School in 2006, Shelton went on to The University of Alabama where he planned to study sports journalism. After a stint as volunteer coach at his high school alma mater, Shelton was bit by the coaching bug and decided that was the right path for his future.

After another year at a local high school as a volunteer coach, Shelton co-founded the club baseball team at Alabama and served the club as Vice President while also playing as an infielder. Following graduation from UA, he migrated to Memphis, TN as a graduate assistant baseball coach at Christian Brothers University from 2012-2013. Upon graduation from CBU, Shelton served one year as Director of Baseball Operations at Samford University in 2014 before landing the head coaching job at Fayette Academy in Memphis, TN. After two years at Fayette Academy, Shelton re-located to his home state where he now serves as an assistant baseball coach at Hueytown High School in Birmingham.

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity with Bigger Than Ball," Shelton said. "Will's passion and vision for the foundation is inspiring and I am ready to do whatever I can to be an asset to the foundation." Shelton will be responsible for growing the foundation's footprint in the state of Alabama. "After several years of coaching, I have developed some core values that I believe are vital in a team finding success on and off the field-- discipline, accountability, commitment, effort, and attitude. I feel like those values align quite well with the vision of Bigger Than Ball whose goal is to equip coaches in using their platform for change."
